Her real name is MA. SOCORRO LEDESMA. She was born in March 16 in Bacolod City, Philippines.

She started her singing career when she was still in College, taking up Nursing. She was a member of the band Lastiko before joining then the Ensalada band in Bacolod. while she was still in college taking up Nursing. Jet Montelibano, one of the members formed the MUSIC & MAGIC band and invited her to come to Manila and join the singing group. It was thru this band that she landed in a lead role in Alice Reyes' pop ballet, RAMA HARI. She eventually went solo with her first hit song DITO BA.

Kuh has performed three hundred conderts in a span of twenty five years of her singing career.

Her AKO AY PILIPINO (1982) concert at the CCP featured a repertoire of ethnic sounds, classic kundimans and beautiful pop songs.

In the 90's Kuh had a series of back-to-back concerts with foreign artists like Noel Pointer, Jack Jones, and Kenny Rankin (and later with The Platters and Michel Legrand).

She also had TWO concert series performing with local artists like Regine Velasquez, Pops Fernandez, and Jaya.

She appeared in films ORO PLATA MATA, TINIMBANG ANG LANGIT, THE YEAR OF LIVING DANGEROUSLY.

Educational Attainment:

Pops is the daughter of the action star Eddie (Lagalag) Fernandez and Dulce Lukban, a Pilippine movie star. She is one of the Philippines' most well-known and enduring vocalists. Fernandez began her musical career at age 16 when she signed a contract with OctoArts in 1981.

In 1982, Fernandez released her first LP, Pops, and started co-hosting the TV variety series Penthouse Live! with Martin Nievera who later became her husband. Fernandez became immensely a popular teen idol in the Philippines that the press even dubbed her as the country's "Concert Queen" for her ability to attract huge crowds. Her face appeared on the covers of countless magazines. Five years after Penthouse Live! debuted, the show was replaced by Martin and Pops Twogether. Martin and Pops Twogether was canceled after two years, and the couple separated in 1998. They have two sons, Robin and Ram.

In 1995, Fernandez joined the cast of another variety program ASAP together with his husband Martin Nievera, Dayanara Torres, and Ariel Rivera.

Fernandez was chosen as Best Female Musical Variety Show Host at the KBP Golden Dove Awards in 1999. Fernandez' fan following extends beyond the geographical boundaries of the Philippines; she has toured in the U.S., Japan, Hong Kong, Guam, and Italy. Fernandez released Shindig Live in 2001. Pops is the undisputed Concert Queen, and this is witnessed by thousands of people when she staged Shindig concert at ULTRA. And like any other real artist should be, Pops is more than just a singer, she is a better actress, an excellent host, and interesting writer. Filipino moviegoers rave for her performances in Linlang and this was followed by the box-oofice hit, Gusto Ko nang Lumigaya. She's done her new movie entitled "Zsa Zsa Zaturnnah Ze Muveeh" together with the Divine Diva Zsa Zsa Padilla. She also makes an occasional appearances hosts of the variety show, ASAP on Channel 2, Pops adds taste and glamour to everyone's viewing experience.

Levi Celerio

Levi Celerio-Composer, Lyricist, National Artist

I remember Levi Celerio making train noises from his violin. Usually he caps his guest performance by playing a tune using a simple leaf which landed him in the Guinness Book of World Records as the only man who could play music with a leaf.

I did not know then that he was a composer and lyricist of 4,000 songs. Some of his love songs were use for movie titles or movie theme songs.

Among his songs are:
Saan Ka Man Naroroon?, Kahit Konting Pagtingin, Kapag Puso'y Sinugatan, and Ikaw, Dahil Sa Isang Bulaklak, Bagong Pagsilang, and Sapagkat Kami'y Tao Lamang, while his folk songs include Tunay na Tunay, Itik-Itik, Waray-Waray, Pitong Gatang, Ako ay May Singsing, Alibangbang, Galawgaw, Caprichosa, Dungawin Mo Hirang, Umaga na Neneng, Ikaw Kasi, and Basta't Mahal Kita. Celerio also wrote nationalistic songs such as Ang Bagong Lipunan, Lupang Pangarap, and Tinig ng Bayan.

He was born on April 30, 1910 in Tondo, Manila. He died at the Delgado Clinic in Quezon City on April 2, 2002 at the age of 91, just two days after the death of a fellow National Artist, Lucio San Pedro (who wrote the music for Sa Ugoy ng Duyan).

On October 9, 1997, pursuant to Proclamation No. 1114, President Fidel V. Ramos proclaimed him a National Artist for Music and Literature. His citation read that his music "was a perfect embodiment of the heartfelt sentiments and valued traditions of the Filipino.

Sharon Gamboa Cuneta Pangilinan (born January 6, 1966) is the most popular Filipina actress, TV host, singer, and endorser. She is also known as The Mega Star of Philippine Showbiz having been a grandslam awardee,a box office queen hall of famer and a recipient of several lifetime achievement awards at a relatively young age.

Her mother hails from Sta. Ana, Pampanga while her father was the mayor of Pasay City for decades.

She first appeared on Philippine pop charts in 1978 as a 12 year old, singing the tune "Mr. D.J." The tune became wildly popular and earned her the title of "D.J.'s Pet" (which was also the name of her first album). Other hit albums followed, and Cuneta was asked to sing many movie soundtracks of the time - becoming the first "movie soundtrack star" in the country.

She was given films from Viva Films. At age 15, she starred in her first feature film, 1981 Dear Heart paired with fellow teeny-bopper Gabby Concepcion. After Dear Heart's success, she appeared in more than 50 feature films, and earned the title of "Box Office Queen" in the country from 1985 through 1993.

Her musical-variety show, T.S.C.S. "The Sharon Cuneta Show" was one of the longest running television shows in Philippine Showbiz from 1986 through 1997.

Her love-team pairing in Dear Heart with Regal Films heartthrob, Gabby Concepcion made the team the most popular love team in Philippine Movies during the 1980's. They later married (at age 19) in a civil ceremony then a Church wedding on September 23, 1984 with former President Ferdinand Marcos as Principal Sponsor (Ninong); however, the marriage did not last. In April 1985, Sharon gave birth to a daughter, Maria Kristina Cassandra Concepcion or KC Concepcion.

Sharon is the first Filipina artist to sell out at the Los Angeles Shrine Auditorium first in 1988 and her latest June 11th, 2005 concert. She sang to SRO crowds. Her poster is enshrined in The Shrine's Hall of Fame next to stars Michael Jackson, Barbra Streisand and the Ballet Folklorico de Mexico. She created a traffic jam in the 90's and puzzled the former Mayor of Los Angeles Tom Bradley. After hearing of her success, the mayor attended the concert and awarded Sharon with an Honorary Key to the City of Los Angeles.

Since 1998, Cuneta has been married to Senator Francis "Kiko" Pangilinan. Cuneta gave birth to Simone Francesca Emmanuelle (Frankie) in November 2000 and Mariel Daniella Sophia (Miel) in September 2004.

Her late father, Pablo Cuneta, was mayor of Pasay City for four decades.

Rico J was discovered by Vicor executives when he was 22 years old. His
first hit was "Love Won't Let Me Wait" released through the Sunshine Label,where he introduced a novelty he became famous for -- substituting Tagalog lyrics in singing foreign hits. He was named Most Promising Entertainer of the Year in the Aliw Awards after one year in the musi industry. He was chosen Entertainer of the Year by the same award-giving body in 1977.
His top three selling albums are "The Way We Were," "Rico J. Puno," and "Spirit of Christmas." Rico’s first solo performance at the CCP entitled "Rico in Concert" with the Manila Symphony Orchestra made him the leading pop singer in the Philippines; while his concerts in Araneta Coliseum and his American tour in 1978 broke records in audience attendance. At one point, he was even the highest paid performer in the Philippines. His trademark voice and new approach in the Pinoy pop sound was compared to such American classic stars as Elvis Presley and Sammy Davis yet it was uniquely his own. Puno is known as "The Total Performer" who appeals to all kinds of audiences.
His biggest hit singles include: "The Way We Were," "Kapalaran," "Magkasuyo Buong Gabi," "May Bukas Pa," "Macho Guapito," "Together, Forever."

Martin Nievera dubbed as Concert King is the son of balladeer Bert Nievera and Conchita Razon.

He's formerly married to Pops Fernandez, the Concert Queen to whom he has two sons,
Robin and Ram.

He sings ballads, love songs, songs from Broadway musicals, and OPMs (Original Pilipino Music including his own compositions.

According to him, he has written one hundred songs but only two became hits.

He describes his children as: “My kids love to sing too. Robin, the older of the two is more like his mother. He’s shy and quiet. Ram is more like me -- talkative and very demonstrative.” As any typical proud papa would, he casually tells newsmen that Ram impersonates Jim Carey and a South Park cartoon character like a pro.

Eraserheads was one of the most popular Pop/Rock bands in the Philippines, formed in the late 1980s and disbanded in 2002. Many music journalists and music enthusiasts regard the band as The Beatles of the Philippines because of their creative songwriting, catchy lyrics, and willingness to experiment with various styles of music. The Eraserheads was also regarded as the band that opened the commercial doors for other aspiring Filipino Rock bands. The band's debut album, Ultraelectromagneticpop, released in 1993 by BMG Records, was a commercial success, leading the way to the eventual breakthrough of many fellow artists like Parokya ni Edgar, Rivermaya, and Yano. It also brought band-based music into mass awareness.

The mountainous Central Cordillera region of Northern Luzon includes six ethno-linguistic tribes known as the Ibaloy, Kankanay, Ifugao, Kalinga, Apayao, and Bontoc. They prefer to be called by their respective tribal names rather than the collective term Igorot, which was first used by the Spaniards and later by Christian lowlanders. These tribes were generally unfazed by Spanish colonization. This homogeneous group is recognized by their common socio-cultural traits. They hold common religious beliefs, generally nature-related, and make propitiatory offerings to anitos, or household gods. Among these people of the Cordillera, dance continues to be an expression of community life that animates the various rituals and ceremonies. It serves for self-edification of the performers and entertainment for the spectators. They dance to appease their ancestors and gods to cure ailments, to insure successful war-mating activities,or to ward off bad luck or natural calamities. They dance to congregate and socialize, for general welfare and recreation, and as an outlet for repressed feeling. Perhaps the best known and closest to the Filipino heart are the dances from the rural Christian lowlands: a country blessed with so much beauty.
