Nellie Boustead
After receiving the news of the marriage of Leonor Rivera to an Englishman,Jose Rizal decided to court other ladies.
He met two sisters while fencing at the studio of Juan Luna. One of the sisters was deeply infatuated with Jose Rizal that he was invited to their residence in the resort city of Biarritz.
Rizal must have developed feelings towards Nellie that he challenged Antonio for a duel when the latter uttered unsavory remarks against the woman. Luna apologized when he sobered up.
But marriage did not take place. The parents of Nellie would like him to convert to Protestantinism. The mother thought that he's not good enough for the family even though he was a doctor because he had no clientele.
